Welcome to Chatham Housing Authority

The Chatham Housing Authority is nestled in the quaint fishing and tourist community of Chatham, Massachusetts, located at the “elbow” of Cape Cod. The CHA has been in business since 1969.

CHA is convenient to shopping, recreation and physicians. The CHA is also a regular stop for the Regional Transit Authority’s Breeze Bus.

CHA is also under a Management Agreement with the Harwich Housing Authority. We share the Crowell road office space.

Chatham Housing Authority was organized and exists pursuant to Massachusetts General Laws, Chapter 121B, Section 3, is composed of a five-member Board of Commissioners responsible for policy making and general administration of the Authority. Four members are elected by Town voters and the fifth is appointed by the Commonwealth. The CHA’s administrative staff consists of an executive director, administrative assistant, and a full-time maintenance employee. Harwich Housing Authority was also formed in the same manner.

Chatham Housing Authority’s mission is to build, maintain and administer affordable community housing to residents, with particular attention to the elderly, disabled and families. We assist those not only in Chatham but across the Commonwealth who have difficulty in finding affordable, safe and adequate housing to rent or buy.

Board Meetings are held on the Third Tuesday of each month at 4 p.m. in the Authority’s offices, 240 Crowell Road, Chatham. Additional meetings are called and posted when necessary. Meetings are open to the public. The annual meeting and election of officers is held on the same day as the regular meeting in September.

In 2007 the Chatham Housing Authority was awarded the 2007 Outstanding Agency Award for their innovative first time homebuyer initiatives from the Massachusetts Chapter of NAHRO.
